According to a State Auditor’s examination report released today, since 1996 over $162 thousand in service charges collected to fund Taylor County’s enhanced 911 service (E-911) has been spent inappropriately. In addition, a program surplus of almost $47 thousand has not been dedicated to E-911 use.
City of Campbellsville is owed $22 thousand State Auditor Ed Hatchett said the examination was prompted by Taylor County citizen concerns expressed via the Auditor’s Fraud Hotline 1-800-KY-ALERT. The report also noted that E-911 expenses were paid with $44 thousand in county occupational tax receipts, half of which the City of Campbellsville was entitled to under the terms of an inter-local agreement. The report made 8 recommendations to strengthen administration of E-911. |
